Zinc white

Zinc white is an artificially produced mineral paint that has been used by painters since the mid-1800s. The pigment does not have the same color power and flexibility as titanium white. An oil paint based solely on zinc white will become too hard and inflexible and will have a tendency to peel. Zinc white has slightly fungicidal properties. This property as well as its surface hardness make it fantastically suitable as an additive in linseed oil paints.

Can be mixed with all colors.

Binders

Can be mixed with most binders, except basic emulsions, resin varnishes or acidic spirit varnishes.

Areas of application

Zinc white can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Safety

The pigment is described in the literature as non-toxic. However, it is always advisable to use a dust mask when working with pigments.
