    Ultramarine

Ultramarine (PB29) an artificially produced mineral color with a luminous, intense, warm blue tone. Originally, it was produced by crushing and grinding the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli, "blue stone" and was a very expensive color - more expensive than gold. The color has been known since ancient times, but its use has been quite exclusive due to its preciousness. From the 1830s it was possible to produce the chemical, after which the color has found much wider use.

The pigment is light, - water, - oily. The pigment can be slightly unstable in lime, which is why lime products tinted with ultramarine should preferably be used on the same day.
